Reflection by Jaysha Crankshaw of SMAJ
Home sweet home...Yup, the Bayani Challenge was over. I could sleep, watch TV, play computer, or even go on Facebook all day. But when I thought of doing all these things, something really moved me. I realized that the Bayani Challenge 2013 had given me the greatest learning a person could ever learn, and that my friend is to sacrifice everything for the good of others through love. We went back and forth with the hallow blocks that were going to be used in making the houses, we separated the sands from the stones, we mixed the cement, stand in the heat to get a ride during the amazing race, ask our co-bayani's if we could use their outlets to charge our cellphones (because our's wasn't working), and many more. They were all very tiring but after it all you become happy and all your aches go away because you know you did it for good of others. What if we were in the shoes of our Filipino brothers and sisters? If we thought that the challenges were heard, how much harder do you think it would be for our fellow-Filipino's who sacrifice everything, everyday just so he/she could provide for those who are depending on them? We would not have the houses if it weren't for the carpenters, would not have education without our teachers, we would not know how to be responsible without the role models, we couldn't even be alive if God hadn't created us. Ask yourself my co-bayani's: how can we, the youth of today become the future of role models of the next generations to come? How will we show our love for others?
